Desert National Park
The Desert National Park, an excellent example of the ecosystem of
the Thar Desert and its rich fauna is visited by tourists from all
across the world. For observing wildlife in the Desert National Park,
the Sudashri forest post is the most ideal place. The terrain of the
park consists of sand dunes (form less than 20 percent of the Park),
craggy rocks, pavements and compact salt lake bottoms, intermedial
areas and fixed dunes.

Wildlife Attraction in the Desert National Park
The Flora :
The desert climate only allow a few type of small grasses, shrubs
and xerophytic trees and therefore its not suitable for large herbivorous.
The Fauna :
There
are various animals found in the park namely tiger, leopard, sambar,
blue bull, chital, chinkara, hyena, jackal, fox, caracal, jungle cat,
ratel, sloth bear, languor and wildboard blackbuck, chinkara, wolf,
Indian fox, desert fox, hare and desert cat.
The Birds :
Birdlife
in this sandy habitat is vivid and spectacular. Birds such as the
sandgrouse,partridges, bee-eaters, larks and shrikes are commonly
seen. Demoiselle crane and houbara arrive in the winter. The birds
of prey seen here are tawny and steppe eagles, long legged and honey
buzzards, falcons and kestrels. But the most outstanding of the avifauna
is the great Indian bustard. This tall, heavy bird is an epitome of
confidence and grace. It is good to see five or six bustards near
Sudashri water hole.

Jaisalmer Fort : The fort is made of golden and yellow sand
stone which houses several lovely palaces, temples and several gateways.
Sudashri forest post : This is an ideal place for observing wildlife
of Desert National Park.
The Havelies : There are several Havelis in Jaisalmer like Patwon
-Ki-Haveli, Salim Singh ki Haveli represents the architectural brilliance
of Rajput.
